Previewing Nadal vs. Soderling

When the semifinals are set we'll have a preview of each individually, but this quarterfinal between Robin Soderling, two time finalist here, and Rafael Nadal, five time champion, is too good not to take an in-depth look. After the jump, we'll look at who has the advantage in each facet of the game and who should come out on top.
Forehand: Advantage Soderling
Soderling has one of the biggest forehands in the game, and he has shown the ability to hit through the clay like many others have failed to do. Nadal's forehand is obviously world class, and his heavy topspin is a weapon against most players, but Soderling's forehand is just better. Nadal has also been struggling off that wing, making very unusual errors.

Backhand: Advantage Soderling
Much like the forehand, Soderling's backhand is huge, although not as reliable as his forehand. Nadal's backhand is incredibly serviceable, and he can create some wicked angles, but that wing has also been letting him down this tournament.

Serve: Advantage Nadal
Soderling's serve is technically bigger, but he doesn't hit it with nearly enough consistency. He can get hot with it, as was shown in last years quarterfinal win over Roger Federer, but when he misses, his second serve can become a huge liability. Nadal has worked on his serve quite a bit, and it shows.

Speed: Advantage Nadal
This one is pretty obvious. There might not have been a player that had Nadal's speed and ferocity

Intangibles: Advantage Nadal
This one was the toughest, and it will almost certainly decide the match. Nadal has struggled this tournament, unlike previous French Opens, but he is a five time winner here. Soderling has done extremely well against big names opponents earlier in the tournament. His win against Nadal here came in the 4th Round, and his win against Federer was in the quarters, but in those years he lost to Federer and then Nadal in the finals. Perhaps away from the pressure of the final he will play his best, and his best is enough to beat Nadal on an off day.

Prediction: Nadal in Five
There will be some tense moments for the five time winner here, but expect him to pull it out in the end.
